We were married on June 8, 2002 in Stonehaven Scotland. We arrived a few days before the ceremony to make final arrangements and get our paperwork in order. If you are interested in getting married overseas, Scotland is one of the places with the fewest restrictions. It was not a difficult process and most of the arrangements were made using email or fax. I hired a wedding planner to help me with some of the planning and I recommend it highly. Candicrag Weddings was our planner, and Penny was terrific to work with. She made good recommendations, but wasn't too pushy. We stayed at the Huegh Hotel in Stonehaven, a Baronial Mansion on the hill overlooking Stonehaven. It is a family run place and Kevin and all of the people at the Huegh went out of their way to accommodate us and our ever changing plans. Stonehaven is a small fishing village and a few miles outside of town is Dunnottar Castle where we were married. Some views of the Castle on a sunny day. The Chapel where our ceremony took place. Keith & I two days into our marriage on a sunny day at the castle
On the day of our wedding we woke to a pouring rain and Kevin was kind enough to invite us to move our wedding to the Heugh's reception room, where he offered to light a fire. We remained optimistic (or stubborn) and pressed on for a wedding at the castle and shortly before the ceremony, the rain stopped. There was, however a substantial fog but we decided that it added atmosphere and had the ceremony outside in the ruins of the chapel. |
