We rented a house through English Country Cottages in Rogerscale near Cockermouth. It is on the northwestern edge of the Lake District. The house is called "Woodlands House" and it was lovely. The lake district was beautiful.
View of our backyard at Woodlands House and the house from the river Cocker We had a gourmet lunch at the Punch Bowl in Crosthwaite. Go there and eat! One day, Keith and Del climbed Skiddaw & Sue and I decided to take a walk around the edge of Cockermouth described in a book that I had. The walk was supposed to be 7.5 miles. The day started out okay even though we had been lost a few times by the time we stopped for lunch. We saw St. Michael's church, the oldest part of which was built around 1130.

Bell Tower from grave yard Unfortunately, we didn't get to St. Michaels until we had been walking for about 5 hours and had been lost many more times. In the end, Keith & Del beat us to the pub by about 3 hours and we were walking for about 7.5 hours and many more than 7.5 miles.
